Wikipedia Trail: from Krishna to Nuclear Weapons

Image
Krishna He is the eight avatar of the god Vishnu. He represents love, compassion, and tenderness, all things the world needs more of. Nepal I went to Nepal next because I want to one day visit it. It has the most number of public holidays so I will plan my trip to make sure to indulge myself in their culture as much as I can. They serve a lot of soup. I have experienced this a lot in other countries for some reason. Football, soccer, is the most popular sport, as it usually is in any place around the world. World Wars Next I looked into the world wars. Due to current events, although I think the media has exaggerated the problems between nations, this topic interests me. Through each world war, countries were forced to create newer and more powerful weapons, leading to the A-Bomb. I can not imagine what another world war would cause the great nations of the world to create. Nuclear Weapons I went to the Nuclear Weapon page next as they are intriguing. Although incredibly destruc

Learning challenge: Sleep

Image
I chose to learn about sleep again, as this is the most interesting to me. The beginning of the article really caught my attention with the anecdotal story a college student on study abroad had given. I never thought that not sleeping could cause so much harm to a person's health. I have gone 48 hours without sleeping while coming back home from a long camping/road trip and I started to hallucinate on the road. I had to stop and sleep a little at a gas station before continuing, because I was not trying to crash. I am good at staying awake while driving, but I did not want to risk hallucinating something and accidentally crashing. After reading this article I will probably not do this again, cause I place my health above anything else in my life. Sleeping is Important

Growth Mindset: Explore Growth Mindset Beyond School

Image
I have utilized the growth mindset throughout every aspect of my life. I am always trying to be better than I was the day before in everything that I do. I am incredibly into my physical health. I eat as healthy as someone can, with the occasional pizza and movie night while my metabolism lasts, and I workout everyday of the week. I am always looking to learn from others at the gym, as their is always something to learn. Whether it be from the power lifters or the bodybuilders, or even the steroid junkies, everyone has something they do differently to improve their health, although the steroid people are more into the growth of their bodies and not their mind. I have taken everything I have learned in my 3 years of serious training and diet to create my own work out routine and diet that works for me. I have to eat way to much, because I have the metabolism of an Olympic sprinter, but I got to 195 pounds with very little body fat and I have never felt better, can't wait to try to l

Tech Tip: Canvas Notifications

I always have my canvas notifications set. This is how I see what assignments need to be completely within the week. That is unless they are larger projects. I ran into an issue when both d2l and canvas were being used. This caused me to miss assignments in my professional development class, which dropped 10% of my grade, I ended with an 88% lol. It was a bummer, but it was my fault in the end. Now that the entirety of OU has switched to Canvas it has made my life easy to keep up with all of my assignments.

Reading Notes: Seven Secrets of the goddess

The difference between how each kind of gods and goddesses work within Indian culture. The thought that material and spiritual reality is really cool, that one would not exist without the other. The argument as to how the female god was material and not instead, spiritual was interesting. Vishnu is a god who only grows infinitely. The celebration of Vishnu through color is cool. Spiritual growth is to be able to grow without getting greedy or clingy. I feel that many nowadays need to grow spiritually. Consciousness is finite. Brahma passes fear of death to everyone, but Vishnu does not depend on material reality. He is worshiped because of this. Maya is an aspect of material reality. Maya is mental. Brahmanda is Brahma's construction of reality. Prakriti is objective material reality. Maya Bilbiography: Epified

Wikipedia Trails

Surya I started at the wikipedia page for the son god in Surya, which I came across in someone's story. The fight between the sun and the moon is cool. Sun From there I went to the page about the sun as I find the sun to be incredibly interesting in every aspect. I mainly focused my reading here on the religious aspects portion as that is most relevent to this class. It is interesting to see the different takes on the sun in each culture, but in each on the god of the sun is incredibly powerful. Also that sunday is the day of the sun god in christian studies, which makes sense why church is held on sundays. Aztec  Next I went to the Aztec culture, as anything that has to do with ancient cultures fascinates me. The aztecs had equality between women and men, which is incredibly interesting to see in an ancient civilazation. Obsidian The last page I went too, I decided to have some fun and clicked on obsidian, which was a little underwhelming to be honest. I was hoping for more

Learning Challenge: Sleeeeepppp

I read " How Decays the Mind and Body " I have always been into being as healthy as possible. I eat incredibly healthly and workout 7 days a week. I noticed my junior year when I was getting 4 hours of sleep on a regular basis I was gaining more weight, which is weird for me. I have always wondered why sleep increases muscle gains as well. Everyone always told me that sleep is just as important. Now that I know it helps your cells regenerate, which is the whole idea behind building muscle. I will attempt to get more sleep even though I have loud roomates that I have to coincide my sleeping with. Muscles
