Bharata Returns
-Bharata learns of all that has taken place
-he says he will not take the throne and will bring back Rama to do so
-He is mad at his evil mother
Dasharatha's Funeral
-Bharata performs the funeral
-Everyone is super sad
Rama and Bharata
-Bharata and one of Dasharatha's counsel try to convince Rama to return
-Rama does not return, even after Bharat offer to take his place
-Rama must honor his fathers commands
The Sandals
-Rama was given golden sandals from Bharata
-These sandals were used as a symbol of the royal authority
-Bharata went outside the city in bark to conduct the affairs of the city
-all while holding the royal umbrella over Rama's sandals

Anasuya
-Sita went inside Atri, ancient sage's hermitage
-Met and told her story to his wife, Anasuya
-Anasuya felt for Sita
-Anasuya decked her out with jewels and robes

Viradha
-he's a man-eating rakshasa
-Cannot be killed by man
-steals sita
-The two brothers shoot him with arrows
-Viradha picks them up and runs
-The brothers break both his harms and cast him into a pit they dug, because he cannot be killed
-He then thanks them for now he has attained heaven
Agastya
-Saint Agastya gives Rama a lot of celestial weapons
-He tells them how to get to a less dangerous place, Panchavati
Shurpanakha and Rama
-sister of Ravana, Demon King
-Tries to seduce Rama, but Rama says nah and say Lakshmana has no wife
Lakshmana and Shurpanakha
-Shurpanakha is a rakshasa women and sprung at Sita, but Lakshmana cut of her nose and ears
-She was mad and sent 14 others to fight them, they all died
-She then amassed an army of 14,000 and brought her chariot and weapons
Battle with Khara
-Rama sends brothers to cave with Sita to protect her
-Rama fights the army alone and wins and kills Khara, who was trying to avenge his brother's death
Shurpanakha and Ravana
-She tells her brother Ravana what has happened, falling to the ground weeping
-Ravana learns of the weakness of the two men, Sita
-He will take Sita for his own
Ravana and Maricha
-Maricha, brother of Ravana, warns Ravana not to meddle with Rama
-Ravana is angered by this
-Out of fear Maricha consents and joins Ravana
-Maricha assumes the form of a golden deer in order to lure Sita
The Golden Deer
-Sita sees the deer and asks Rama to capture it for her
-Lakshmana is weary and knows of the raskshasa'a tricks
-but nonetheless Rama must give Sita what she desires
The Chase
-Rama slays Maricha, who calls out in Rama's voice to confuse Sita
-siat sends Lakshmana to help Rama, but Lakshmana know Rama could never be injured like that
-Sita says mean things and forces Lakshmana to go for she will die without Rama
Ravana and Sita
-Ravana goes to the lone Sita in the form of a Sage
-He asks her to come with him and reveals he is Ravana
-she says no
-He snatches her and runs off with her as she screams for help
Jatayu and Ravana
-Jatavu, great vulture, heard Sita's cries for help
-told Ravana he would die, by Rama's hand, if he continued
-Ravana did not listen so Jatavu tried to help, but was killed
-Hermits saw this and were happy Ravana must die, but also sad for Sita
Sita in Lanka
-Sita arrives at Ravana's palace
-She refuse to marry him
-He sends her to the beautiful ashoka grove and commands she be showered with presents
-She refuses the comfort as she still loves Rama
Rama and Jatayu
-Rama and Lakshmana search for Sita endlessly
-They run into the dying Jatayu, who tells them what has happened and where Ravana has taken her
-Then Jatayu dies and ascends to heaven
Kabandha
-the brothers run into the monstrous Kabandha
-They defeat him
-He asks to be cremated as he is Kabandha, a rakshasa who can be freed through cremation
-He then tells them Sita has been taken to the island of Lanka, as he is set free

-They arrive at an old hermitage
-Women, Shabari, is there to greet them
-she shows them the beautiful place
-Rama performs her funeral rights and she ascends to heaven in beautiful fashion
