Week 7 Story: The Secret of the Hidden Castle

There was once a band, their name was the Mystery Pandas. The Mystery Pandas consisted of a total of 5 members, Fred, Shaggy, Scooby, Velma, and Daphne. They were traveling across Europe singing anywhere they could in hopes to get their name out into the public and catch their lucky break. One day, while playing on the street, they get approached by an older man.

The man says: "Hello, my name is King Willy, the sound of your band is amazing and I wish nothing more but to have you guys play at my upcoming winter ball. The Mystery Pandas were extremely excited to have caught what appeared to be their first big chance at stardom. They create a playlist of appropriate songs for the ball and immediately begin practicing.

They get down 20 songs, which they will play throughout the gathering. Once they arrive at the ball, everything is exactly as extravagant as they had imagined. They play their while set, and everyone in attendance loves them. They loved them so much so that the king wished to hire them as the royal band. They finally caught their big break. This was until the kings son, Duy, walked over to his father and spoke horrid lies about who the Pandas really were. That they cheat and steal to get whatever they want.
After this Duy advised the king on how to handle this situation. He told him to tell the Pandas that he will build a castle for them in the outreaches of the mountains, but there will be no castle. This will cause them to become lost and die out in the wilderness.
Duy was only lying because he had dreams of becoming a famous singer, but his dad always found other musical talent to be superior to hi own.

The king then sent the Pandas out on their journey to search for their castle. Duy's plan worked perfectly the Pandas disappeared.

But one day, years after they had vanished into the mountains, they reappeared. But they were somehow different. Each one seemed like they had spent an eternity in the depths of hell. Their faces were blank and their minds blanker. Nobody is quite sure what happened to them, or how they survived in the mountains for that long. But one thing is for certain. They are not the same people that left the city years ago.

Author's Note: The original story is about how the son of king Drapuda, Druyhodana, deceives his father into thinking that the Pandavas, Druyhodana's half brothers, tricked him and thus should be sent to a castle that is built to be burnt to the ground with the Pandavas in it. I the same basic concept, but changed the burning castle to a mystery in the mountains causing the Pandas to become basically dead.

  1. Hey Zach! Great Story! I really loved Scooby-Doo as a child and seeing you retell the story with a Scooby-Doo theme was really awesome! I liked the name of the band. I thought it was pretty funny. I would like to point out a grammatical error. Just above the picture it says “hi own”. I think that is supposed to be “his own”.

  2. Hi Zach,
I love Scooby-Doo!! It was such a funny cute show, I even had a backpack growing up of them. I think it was cute how you related the two stories and made them banned from the kingdom. I think you did a really great job at keeping the readers attention. The only thing I saw wrong was what Chris mentioned that hi own is suppose to be his. I make those mistakes all the time lol! You did a great job!

  3. Hi Zach, great twist on the original story! Adding Scooby-Doo brings back part of my childhood. Tying the two stories together by including the kings son as the reason the Pandas were abandoned is a great parallel into the original story. Including the reason as to why the Pandas were going to be a part of the story added depth and reasoning for why the Kings son wanted them to be cast away. Great job I look forward to reading more!

  4. Hello again!
The Scooby Doo names are great. You added a great mix of humor within your story! I personally liked the ending because it's almost like a cliff hanger. It leaves me with questions about what happened to them, and you could even make another story based on their experiences and what exactly happened out there. The only thing I have to suggest is to reread and make sure the words are spelled correctly! I look forward to reading more of your stories.

  5. Hello Zach!

I really like Scooby Doo and you made the character with the same name as the characters in the Scooby Doo really like that. Duy the guy who didn't like other was worst and he made people believe that they cheated and made their life miserable. I hope someday he get what he deserves for doing such bad things. I like your story it was nice and I hope I get to read more stories in the future.

  6. Hey Zach, me again! I love the way you have combined Indian Epics with the epic of Scooby Doo. You did a great job of keeping enough of the source story in yours while adding in elements of the Scooby Doo to make the story unique and interesting! The fate that befell the characters was sad however, and you did a great job of being serious during that part which was nice.
